Join the adventure, it’s easy and the benefits are incredible.
All enquiries for places in groups/units in our District are managed through a centralised system to help us manage our resources and plan for the future. Some of our groups are oversubscribed and therefore there may be a wait for a place to become available however for other groups whilst we still use the waiting list process, there won’t necessarily be an actual wait for a place. The benefits of Scouting are well known with studies showing that people who have been Scouts as a child have better mental health in later life and Parents say Scouting gives their children more confidence, responsibility, a broader set of friends, a chance to pursue things they might not get to do otherwise, adventure and an extended family. Why not give it a go and join the adventure?
We are always keen to hear from adults who are interested in volunteering as leaders, helpers or committee members. Whether you can spare a couple of hours a week or a couple of hours a year, there is an opportunity to suit you. More adults help us to open new groups or expand existing ones and to offer the fun and adventure of Scouting to more young people than ever before. Whether you are the parent of a young person and want to give it a go at the same time as your child, someone who has been a Scout themselves or someone completely new to Scouting looking for a way to give something back to the community then look no further. Scouting is fun, rewarding and valued by employers so it looks great on your CV. If you are up for the challenge then our District Commissioner, Shaun Jones, would love to hear from you!
